Kathy Thorpe, CPDT-KA
Owner & Head Dog TrainerKathy has been training dogs formally since 2011, and is a professional member of APDT, The Association Of Professional Dog Trainers.
After a fifteen-year career in corporate marketing, she decided to pursue her passion and began her journey to become a dog trainer. Kathy purchased a dog training franchise in 2011, and continued on to build one of the most successful dog training businesses in Denver. At the end of the franchise agreement, she decided to go solo with a new dog training curriculum, and the result is the Paw School of today.
At home, Kathy currently has two dogs, Wesley and Newman. Pictured here are Newman and her previous boxer-mix, Charlie… who helped get this journey started.
Colleen Tekamp, CPDT-KA
Dog TrainerOriginally from Cincinnati, OH, Colleen started local dog training with the Denver Paw School team in August of 2015. Prior to that, Colleen spent two and a half years designing and creating instructional media for an equine training company.
Inspired by her work helping people build relationships with their animals, Colleen started attending science-based training seminars and courses and pursuing a career in dog training. Outside of work, Colleen spends her time exploring the Colorado landscape with her rescue-dog, Tobin.
Dog TrainerJess’s love of dogs started early in life, helping her father whelp Vizsla litters. She has a degree in Biology, with a focus in Animal Behavior, and spent time working in a zoo before pursuing her true passion, working with dogs.
Jess spent two years with Fetchers in their daycare and boarding program, before joining the Paw School staff in 2012 to begin her training career. Jess and her dog Sammy compete in Agility and enjoy hiking and camping in Colorado.
Courtney Kemper, CPDT-KA
Dog TrainerCourtney has spent most of her life in Colorado. She grew up in the foothills by Red Rocks surrounded by animals like horses, Great Danes, cats, rabbits and a ferret. After getting her degree from CSU, Courtney explored many jobs in the pet service industry before finding dog training a few years ago. Courtney received her certification in 2016 and found her way to Paw School this summer.
Courtney enjoys spending her free time exploring the mountains of Colorado or traveling abroad to places like Spain. While she currently does not have a dog, Courtney enjoys taking care of two horses and dog sitting for friends and family.

Our Fabulous Front Desk Staff
ManagerMaezy moved from the Midwest to Colorado in 2007 to follow the call of the mountains. She lived and worked at Keystone ski resort before making the move to the city in 2010. Being an animal advocate and life long dog lover, she found a perfect job with Paw School in 2013.
Mugsy, her French Bulldog has enjoyed learning agility in our classes and working on perfecting his manners. On occasion he comes to Paw School to help in the office, and test out the merchandise. When not working, they enjoy camping and checking out the many reservoirs and lakes Colorado has to offer. Maezy also loves traveling with her family as often as possible, to destinations both near and far!
Front DeskOlivia has been obsessed with animals all her life and they are the subject of many of her drawings and paintings. She moved all over the U.S. growing up, but lived in Savannah, GA the longest. Graduating from the Savannah College of Art & Design with a focus on illustration and conceptual design, she moved to Colorado in 2014 to be with family. She has a huge passion for nature and learning about animal anatomy.
Growing up with two Old English Sheepdogs, she has been around dogs all her life and has a great appreciation for the nuances in all the different breeds. Alongside Paw School and her freelance art projects, Olivia works as a dog sitter on the side and loves being around animals of all species. She owns a Ball Python named Steve and a Siberian Forest Cat named Lana. She is currently training with her cat on various tricks and obedience commands. She loves hiking, spending time in the mountains, and immersing herself in her artwork.
Front DeskTina has grown up handling and caring for animals since she can remember. She volunteered at the Denver Dumb Friends League in highschool and worked at a boarding and daycare facility in Seattle, Washington while earning her Bachelors in Fine Arts & Painting at Seattle University.
Upon graduating in 2011, she adopted her first rescue and moved back to Denver to create a home with her husband. After the planned adoption of a cat and not so planned rescue of a puppy, her time training her own animals at home fueled the desire to the leave the service industry once and for all.
Spending her weeks with the Paw School family, creating commissioned paintings on the side and devoting her spare time to her husband, family, friends and animals at home is a dream come true.
